Abstract

The transmission gear has a pair of bevel gear wheels mounted on a central shaft and meshing with a second pair of gears mounted on a split shaft perpendicular to the first. The transmission gear is contained in a casing which houses the roller bearings and a clutch mechanism. The second shaft is also fitted with a magnetic clutch and an electrical brake connected through the same supply to the main drive motor. The end of the first shaft is also fitted with disc brakes to lock the shaft on power failure.
