Abstract

A means of self-defense against an aggressor has a projectile shot by a gun, in which the projectile contains granules of a soporific agent to make the aggressor sleep quasi-immediately, the granules being coated with a water-soluble non-toxic substance and being kept in the presence of a drying agent in the cartridge or magazine of the weapon. The projectile may be projected by powder or by compressed air or gas. The soporific agent may be a narcotic a hypnotic, or a powerful anaesthetic which is used in surgery by injection. A typical suitable anaesthetic is pentobarbital or one of its salts. The water soluble, non-toxic substance may be salt or sugar or the like. the dehydrating agent may be silica gel or alumina. If desired the projectiles may contain a 'truth drug' such as sodium penthotal.
