Abstract

Perforated sheet steel beams are used for the pressurised dyeing of yarns and fabrics. A clothing or coating for the beam comprises a layer of metal wires in interconnected spirals or loops. By reason of its high porosity, such a layer ensures a perfect distribution of the dye liquor, and improved drainage, and avoids the patterning normally experienced on the wound layers of textile, so that the entire fabric remains usable after dyeing. The layer of metal wire loops is joined using a looped wire identical to those in the layer, or by means of a connecting rod, so that no trace of the locality of the joined ends of the metal layer can be seen in the dyed fabric.
