Abstract

The electro-magnetic percussive motor has a core plunger (8) which is mounted in the coil (6) of an electro-magnet (7), and having circuitry which includes capacitors (4) with charge (3) and discharge(5) thyristors controlled by an impulse emitter (10). The coil moves the plunger to accummulte electrical energy, with the return movement imparting the hammer blow, and capacitor discharge gives rise to a short term coil impulse which instigates the return. A potentiometer may be included in the electronic control circuit, being used to effect an adjustable co-ordination of trigger impulses and plunger motion.
