Abstract

The Arabic text comprises characters designs to be written in a straight line, using separate latters with or without vowels. Each letter is fixed to a support which automatically ensures the correct linking or spacing. Each letter is simplified to one or two forms only, no matter where it is positioned in the text; these are standardised and suitable for use on a typewriter. Sounds in other languages but not in Arabic are included, a silent letter being employed in conjunction with an Arabic consonant to reproduce the foreign sound.
