Abstract

The process utilises self-coupling rivets or bolts to fix two handle (5) halves on a knife blade (6). The rivets fit aligned holes in the knife components, a male rivet (1) from one side being driven into the bore of a female rivet (2) from the other side. Both rivets have enlarged flat circular heads (1a, 2a) which is set flush in the handle. To imitate the rosette rivet style, the heads are provided with a cavity (4) which is filled with metal of differential colouring. The cavity may be axial and of a conical form, and may be further defined by an annular 'V' section groove (4).
