Avant le début de la coulée, une quantité prédéterminée de gaz inerte en phase liquide est introduite dans la coquille à partir du haut; pendant la coulée, du gaz inerte est admis continuellement dans la coquille et est évacué à travers un orifice de passage ménagé dans la partie supérieure extrême de la coquille; immédiatement avant la fin de la coulée, l'admission de gaz est interrompue Avantageusement, le gaz est introduit en continu, avant le début de la coulée, pendant un laps de temps qui correspond au moins au rapport entre la capacité de la cavité de la coquille et le volume à l'état gazeux de la quantité de gaz liquide introduite par seconde. Application particulièrement à la coulée d'alliages ferreux et, notamment, d'acier moulé.
