Abstract

Dye concentrate comprises (A) 10-35 wt. % of a mixt. of (a) Malachite Green; (b) a dye of formula (I) (where X is Cl or Br; Y is H or Me; Z is (m)ethyl and R is H or (m)ethyl); (c) a dye of formula (II) (X' = X; Y' = Y; 2' = 2; R' = R); and (d) a dye of formula (III); (B) 20-40% of a water-miscible aliphatic carboxylic acid; and (C) 25-70 wt. % water. The amt. of Malachite Green in the soln. is 2-9 wt. %; the wt. ratio of (I) to (II) is 1-5 and the wt. ratio of (I+II) to (III) is 1-12. The concentrate, after addn. of water and opt. other additives, is used to dye or print acidic fibres, partic. those based on (co)polymers of acrylonitrile or vinylidene dicyanide or polymers e.g. polyamides or polyesters, modified by acid gps. Addn. of (II) to the mixt. (a) prevents pptn. of (I).
