Abstract

Pyridoxine derivs. of formula (I) and their acid addn. salts are new. In (I), R1 and R2 are each H or together form ispropylidene; R3 is H or Ph opt. substd. by halo, lower alkyl or lower alkoxy; R4 is Ph (opt. substd. by halo, lower alkyl, lower alkoxy, methylenedioxy, NO2 or CF3), styryl or heteroaryl); and m and n are each 1-4. (I) have antiinflammatory, diuretic and vasoprotective properties for use in human and veterinary medicine, e.g. for treating chronic or degenerative rheumatic states, for use in post-operative surgery and traumatology, for treating oedema in e.g. cardiac insufficiency, obstetrics or obesity, and for increasing capillary strength in e.g. diabetic or arteriosclerotic retinopathy or in veinous (pre-)thrombosis, etc. Daily doses are e.g. 0.01-0.75 g, in units of pref. 0.01-0.25 g. Toxicity is low, e.g. LD50 is >300 mg/kg/day p.o.
