Abstract

Floors are swept and cleaned with a fibrous compsn. which is shaped on the floor and then collected with a hand or automatic broom so that the dust on the floor sticks to the compsn. and traces of antistatic, bactericidal, cleaning agents are left on the floor. The fibre is cellulosic (e.g. saw dust) and is impregnated with 5-15% a bitumen emulsion or tacky organic latex, 2-15% nonionic and cationic wetting agents, 0.5-5% quat. ammonium salts, 1-3% solvent (turpentine) and 30-500% water. The fibres suitably range in length from 1/2mm to several cm. Collection of dust in interstices of the floor as occurs during wet sweeping, or dispersion of dust in the atmosphere as occurs during dry sweeping is avoided.
