Abstract

Welding of platics articles by ultra-sonic methods is controlled by holding the amplitude of the vibration within narrow limits to maintain the quality of the welded joint. The vibration amplitude is controlled by means of a vibration pick-up installed near the vibrator head of the ultra-sonic welding equipment. The pick-up is connected through an amplifier to a circuit which compares the actual value with the pre-set value and emits a warning signal if the measured value falls outside the set limits and switches off the welding machine.
