Abstract

Safety razor has a shaving head with >=1 blade situated in a moulded polymeric carrier having protective and capping surfaces which are in contact with the skin. The carrier is moulded from a polymer comprising a mixt. of >=1 hydrophobic polymeric material and >=1 water-leachable hydrophilic polymeric material. The head is pref. moulded from a mixt. of 85-5 wt.%, esp. 50-60 wt.% of a hydrophobic polymer such as polystyrene, polyethylene, polypropylene or polyacetal, and 15-95 wt.%, esp. 50-40 wt.% of a leachable hydrophilic material such as polyethylene oxide, PVC, polyacrylamide, hydroxypropylcellulose, polyvinylimidazoline or polyhydroxyethylmethacrylate. By using the stated polymer mixt. in the moulded razor head, the skin need only be wetted with water before shaving. The hydrophilic polymer is leached out by the water in the shaving area and acts as a lubricant for the blade, so that shaving soap or cream is no longer required.
