Abstract

L'invention concerne les lasers. Un mécanisme de photo-ionisation en deux étapes permet de produire des centres de couleur F**+2 dans des cristaux d'halogénure de métal alcalin. Ce mécanisme consiste à exciter les centres de couleur F2 pour les faire passer de leur état fondamental 1 à leur premier état lié, 3, ce qui demande moins d'énergie que la transition correspondante 2-4 pour les centres de couleur F, puis à photo-ioniser les centres de couleur F2 à partir du premier état lié. Application aux lasers fonctionnant dans l'infrarouge proche.
