Abstract

Résine acrylique prête à l'emploi, pouvant être conservée à l'abri de l'air. Pour préparer cette résine acrylique, on dissout un polymère méthacrylique (polyméthacrylate de méthyle en perles) dans un mélange de monomères acrylique et méthacrylique (acrylate d'éthyl-2 hexyle et méthacrylate de méthyle). On ajoute ensuite une substance destinée à accélérer la polymérisation ultérieure de ladite résine (par exemple de la diméthylparatoluidine, à raison de 0,5 à 1,5 % en poids) et on stabilise la solution obtenue par addition d'un inhibiteur de polymérisation (inhibiteur phénolique constitué par un sel d'ammonium quaternaire, à raison de 0,1 à 0,4 %). On peut encore y ajouter un agent réticulant ainsi que des colorants et des charges. La résine ainsi prête à l'emploi est ensuite polymérisée par addition de 2 à 4 % d'un catalyseur (peroxyde de benzoyle). Application à la fabrication d'objets divers, notamment de prothèses et d'orthèses.
