Abstract

The machine includes a cylindrical support fitted on its periphery with three upper- and three lower- skids driven outwards by a hand lever and ratchet to anchor support in the large dia. tube. On the top of support is an arm which can be adjusted along a line which is radial w.r.t. tube via a handwheel and spindle. On one end of arm is another handwheel employed to raise or lower an arm carrying a circular cutter inserted in the ring groove to be machined; and a motor and belt drive is used to rotate arm through 360 degrees round the axis of tube so the cutter travels round the groove, which may have cylindrical or conical side walls. For the inspection of the root of one weld before further welding to form a very critical joint.
