Abstract

A cooling fan for an automobile engine is driven through a viscous fluid clutch which is thermostatically controlled. The thermostat consists of a bimetallic spiral spring (38) which controls the fluid flow in and out of the working zone of the clutch. The end (40) of the spiral spring (38) is fixed to the attachment plate (42). Using an adhesive which avoids imposing excessive stresses on the spring end.
