Abstract

A reversed draught gas producer with tubular combustion-air heater, countercurrent combustion-gas cooler and washer and condenser, and hydraulic ash discharge incorporates a combination of: exchanger in which warm air is heated and gas is cooled; exchanger in which cold air is heated and gas already partially purified is cooled; a washer incorporating the condenser in its upper part utilising the main part of the section of the washer. The exchanger in which warm air is heated and gas is cooled is placed as near as possible to the air inlet and under the grate of the producer, down-stream of it, in a drawing-off chamber of large vol., where the gases have a low speed facilitating the deposit of ash in the chamber. The gas circulates outside the tubes of the bundle and the arrangement is such that these gases are at >200 degrees and reach 600 degrees causing pyrolysis of the deposits and continuous cleaning of the tubes. The bottom of the chamber is constituted by a hydraulic joint with water renewal and includes a device for submerging the ashes deposited on the surface of the water and discharging the submerged ashes. The cold air heater raises the temp. of the combustion air to 120 degrees before it enters the warm air heater which operates at a much higher temp. since it is near the grate. The combustion air reaches the injectors at a much higher temp. than in existing technique. The cleaning of the tubes by pyrolysis maintains max. thermal efficiency. Dust sepn. is very efficient and gas going to cold air heater and then to the washer is practically pure. Much less piping is required than in existing procedures.
