Abstract

The flameproofing of cardboard is effected on the constituent layers as they are produced, by feeding the wood fibres, or other mixt. onto an endless belt to form a regular layer and transferring the layer onto a winding cylinder, where it is treated with a flameproofing produced and cut into rectangular sheets. The final cardboard prod. is formed on the constituent layers, individually treated, and comprising in effect, a layer of cardboard and a layer of flameproofing. Since the layer of fibres is very thin, the flameproofing penetrates the fibres completely through, which provides a prod. where the cardboard is treated throughout its thickness, and the flameproofing prod. is uniformly distributed.
