Abstract

Rectangular sheets (5) of expanded foam plastics are used to separate tiers of bottles. Each sheet has regularly-spaced circular holes (6) which fit over bottle caps (4). The spacing of the holes is equal to the maximum lateral dimension of the bottles. There are grooves (7b) in the expanded foam sheet on the upper surface, accommodating the bottom edges of the bottles. Each bottle has a recessed base (2), which gives the bottle caps a comfortable clearance, and allows a more secure fit into the underlying sheet. The presence of the packing sheets does not obscure the bottle label, so that identification of bottles is unimpeded.
