Abstract

The fitting to be inserted in the neck (2a) of a liquid container (1) is designed to ensure that the whole of the contents are discharged when the container is tilted and inverted. The fitting (3) is a sleeve forming a pouring opening, having an externally threaded top for the cap (4). Around the bottom is a tapered plug portion (3d) for inserting in the neck. Above this is a sealing flange (3a) which fits over the flanged top (2a), sealing against it. Under this flange is a groove (3b) into which fits the flanged edge (2c), retaining the fitting. The depth of the tapered base is the same as that of the neck, so that there is almost no pocket formed inside to trap the contents.
