Abstract

In the induction heater circuit esp. for domestic cookers, the coil (28) is in the form of a spiral to provide maximum coupling with the load (34). The circuit is supplied from a D.C. source (12) which is switched by a series silicon-controlled-rectifier (14). The rectifier is triggered by an oscillator (16) providing a stream of pulses to the load coil resonating with a series capacitor (26) at a frequency greater than that of the oscillator. A parallel coil (30) causes a resonance at less than that of the oscillator. The resonant effects act to switch off the thyristor.
