Abstract

The detachable nose - rest for optical spectacles, esp. those with metal frames allows the rest to be chosen separately from the frame. The bridge (12) of the frame (11) has a rectangular section and has a small central boss (22) which locates or snap-fits into the bridge (14) joining the two halves (15) of the rest. The forward edge of each rest has a rectangular groove (16) on its outside face which engages with the metal rim (11) of each lens. The bridge boss (22) may be rectangular, dovetailed or part spherical in order to lock the rest in position.
