Abstract

The selective overload protection for electrical networks based is on relays in cascade and initiated by a load threshold detector. The total elimination tiem of a fault never exceeds two stages of selectivity in the case of a relay function anomaly. Each protection relay has a delay circuit, delay = T1, in series with a logic element connected in parallel with it and a second delay circuit, delay = T2 > T1 and logic element. The logic circuits operate such that relay operation onl occurs if one or more relays forward of it have an associated fault.
