Abstract

In the mfr. of a prefabricated panel, a flexible support is first placed in a mould. The support carries squares of wood which have previously been fixed to it, with a space of 0.5-2 mm left between the squares. A reactive mixt. is then introduced, the mixt. contg. (a) an isocyanate cpd. which is toluene-diisocyanate, diphenyl-methane-diisocyanate, or a polyphenyl-polymethylene-diisocyanate; and (b) a hydroxyl cpd. comprising polyol-polyethers with 2-6 free H atoms per mol. and a molecular wt. of 200-6000. At its moment of formation the mixt. has a viscosity of 200-600 cP. The wood squares are then covered with a sheet of cork and the mould is closed during the polyurethane-forming reaction. The prefabricated panels produced are very light, easy to manipulate, and have good mechanical and sound insulation properties.
