Abstract

A portion of prod. and a container are sterilised simultaneously but separately in the same sealed autoclave. The prod. is filled into the container which is closed and sealed while still in the autoclave. Filling is pref. carried out under vacuum after sterilisation. The closing and sealing carried out inside the autoclave may be of a temporary nature, a permanent seal being completed after the container has been removed from the autoclave. Used for sterilising and packing food prod. into large containers, e.g. 5 to 30 kg. capacity. Complete sterilisation is ensured without requiring heavy, expensive containers which are necessary for sterilising after canning. There is no risk of contamination during filling and no need for supplementary sterilising after the container has been sealed.
