Abstract

Bathtub comprises an outer shell and a similarly shaped inset fitting into the shell. The inset is made of plastics, specifically an acrylic, in known manner, its bottom having a cutout registering with the outlet of the shell, for fitting a discharge valve. The shell has a surface that is left in rough state. The inset may be exchanged when accidentally damaged e.g. during installation, or when it has become unsightly after prolonged used. The inset fits snugly into the shell to which it is bonded adhesively at least in some zones. For this purpose a glue is used that remains resilient even after setting. The wall thickness of the inset is 2-6, pref. 3mm. The inset may be used with shells into which it fits loosely in which case the resulting space(s) between shell and inset is packed with a barely elastic material, specifically a polyurethane foam.
