Abstract

The doll is powered by a battery and can clap its hands together; simultaneously, it can sing or talk, as required. The mechanism is contained in a single unit within the doll's torso and comprises a small reduction motor (6). Its shaft (6a) drives two levers (8, 9) which operate the arms (23d, 23s), the clapping movement being obtained from eccentric cams (22d, 22s). The unit also includes a record (15), played to give the required sound and held in position by flexible fasteners (14). The complete unit is fixed to a base plate and is retained by pegs.
