Abstract
A winding device feeds wire under constant tension to a horizontal mandrel. A cable drum offers coaxial compensation for the mandrel, and is mounted to rotate with it. A first traction cable has one end fixed to the drum and partially wound on to it. The other end is mounted on a tension carriage with mobile compensation control along its axis at right angles to the axis of rotation of the drum. The traction cable passes over an eccentric pulley parallel to the axis of carriage displacement. A second cable engages a loading device which applies the required tension to the wire being wound.
