Abstract

Each cauliflower is loaded into a pocket on a horizontal conveyor band which is intermittently advanced by a power cylinder via a free wheel transmission with return spring. The cup is automatically located to position the cauliflower on a vertical axis beneath three cutters symmetrically disposed around the axis. The cutters can descend, moving inwards to meet on the axis, forming the apex of an inverted cone. The apex cuts into the core of the stump, sepg. the florets which fall on to the band. The cutters are displaced by fluid power cylinders. Machine offers a high output of cleanly detached, undamaged florets.
