Abstract

An automobile assembly line is illuminated by rows of lamps. Each lamp has two parallel fluorescent tubes with a parabolic reflector. One of the fluorescent tubes lies on the focal line of the reflector. The reflector housing is supported at such an angle that light reflected from one tube shines on the car roof whilst light from the other tube illuminates the floor near the vehicle. This method of illumination provides adequate lighting on the lower surface of the car bodywork but without any light shining directly into the eyes of the assembly line workers.
