Abstract

The unit is used medically to provide a source of ultra-violet radiation. It comprises two half-shells (2) which are lined internally with bank of ultra-violet tubes (3) the shells being designed to enclose the patient's body when closed. At one end, each half-shell has a centrifugal fan (4a) these being mounted opposite each other. Each fan is located within a housing (4), fresh air being sucked (4c) in externally. This air is expelled (4d) into the space between patient and tubes to remove any accumulated heat; a damper (4e) adjusts the air flow.
