Abstract

A coil spring (3) wrapped round the longitudinally split end of a round section tube (2) is for use on telescopic members e.g. fishing rods. Torsion applied to the spring modifies the dia. of the end of the tube to effect locking or release relative to the counter tube. The spring (4, 3) may be set in the bore or on the barrel of internal (1) and external (2) tube ends respectively. The external dia. of internal springs (4) may exceed the bore of the tube (1) and the internal dia. of the outer springs (3) may be less the external dia. of the counter tube (2). The springs may be mounted on sleeves (5, 6) of relatively soft material.
