Abstract

A single belt (3) is driven by an electric motor (2) via a hollow pulley (9). The belt passes around a hollow pulley (4), a solid pulley (5) and a hollow pulley (6) which tensions the belt. Upper and lower shafts are respectively driven by the pulleys (4, 5). The shafts driven by pulleys (4, 5) carry brushes which rotate in opposite directions. The apparatus is contained in a box with the brushes extending out of one side. The stems of cut flowers fed between the rotating brushes have their leaves removed.
