Abstract

An appts. for taking samples of liquids or gases or two-phase products at desired depths in petroleum wells comprises a central body which bounds a sample-collecting chamber and which admits at each end a connection with inlet ducts. The ducts can be closed by a stop-cock, pref. spherical. The closure is controlled during the sampling operation by a delayed release mechanism, pref. adjusted as a function of the depth of sampling and the viscosity of the fluid. The opening is brought about after the appts. has been lifted, so that the sample may be transferred. The appts. allows samples may be taken at desired depths and brought to the surface in the same conditions as when they are sampled, i.e. the nature of the fluid and the press. This is partic. important when the fluid is at the boundary between the gaseous and the liq. states.
