Abstract
The anti-return device for a low power synchronous electric motor ensures that on starting up, the motor turns in the required direction. On the rotor are two spring pawls which cooperate with a cam wheel fixed to the stator. When the rotor is turning, the centrifugal effect keeps the spring pawls away from the cam surface ensuring quiet operation. When the motor stops, the spring pawls ensure that the rotor comes to rest at the correct position, so that on restarting the force between the pole pieces is such as to start rotation in the correct direction.
