Abstract

The forces are used for the extraction of a foetus and have an equal and parallel gripping action. They comprise two suitably curved flat sides (5, 6), the ends being spoon shaped (3, 4) for better holding. The opposite and external ends are enlarged and have a large opening in each. These openings form a location for the extremities (13, 13') of a pair of links (11, 12) attached to a pull type handle (14). The linkage connection is loose and unrestricted to prevent any side forces being set up, the pull being direct and automatically equalised between the sides.
