Abstract

The recuperator is formed of a rectangular casing with a base (1) which is separated by a horizontal dividing wall (2) from the upper surface (3). The side (4) of the upper part forms a heat exchanger which connects to ducts through which air is discharged. Cold air is drawn into the space (7) above the base and passes round the dividing wall (2) into the upper space where it is heated. The recuperator is mounted in the chimney of an open fireplace and extracts heat from the flue gases.
