Abstract

The glare from a fluorescent tube is reduced by installing it in a box with a translucent cover (1) and with a screen placed between the tube (2) and cover (1). This screen is in the form of a grid with longitudinal bars. The bars (7) in the central region are in the shape of an inverted V with unequal arms, whilst the bars in the outer regions are flat and oblique to the screen surface. The light from the tube (2) thus passes straight through the central region but is reflected from the outer regions to produce uniform illumination.
