Abstract

The heartbeat control system which detects the intra cardiac pressure uses a stimulative electrode to apply pulses to the heart. It has at least one pressure detector mounted on a carrier conveying the pressure signal to an amplifier with a shaping and discriminating system which indicates the peak signals. Between 100 and 300 milliseconds after detection of a peak, a stimulation pulse is applied. In the event of a ventricular contraction being detected during this interval, the stimulation pulse is cancelled. The contraction is detected by the pressure detector. The system uses several microprocessors, and the timing system can be varied.
