Abstract

The system heats a medium by combining solar energy with another heat source, the medium being intermittently delivered into a first heating vessel. The first vessel is heated by solar energy when this is suficient, and the medium is drawn off intermittently, simultaneously with it being delivered. After it has been drawn off the heat transfer medium is conducted to a user device either directly or, when medium temp. in the vessel is below a datum level, via a second vessel where the temp. is raised to this level. The heaters for the second vessel are only but in when temperature in the first vessel is below the datum level.
