Abstract

L'invention concerne un procédé de désodorisation d'alcools inférieurs. Le procédé consiste à faire entrer la charge à traiter en contact avec un catalyseur de désodorisation comprenant des métaux et/ou des oxydes de métaux appartenant de préférence aux groupes IB, VB, VIB, VIIB et VIII du Tableau Périodique, les oxydes métalliques étant au moins partiellement réduits et le catalyseur de désodorisation consistant en une masse de particules de diamètre supérieur à environ 0,254 mm, c'est-à-dire sous une forme propre à être utilisée dans un procédé de catalyse en lit fixe. Par exemple, l'isopropanol est désodorisé par contact avec des métaux du groupe VIII tels que nickel, fer, cobalt, etc., fixés sur un support, la masse de catalyseur ayant une surface spécifique inférieure à environ 1 500 m**2/gramme. Application à la désodorisation d'alcools inférieurs tels que l'éthanol et l'isopropanol et leurs dérivés oxy tels que leurs esters et éthers.
