Abstract
Mould has an inductor for the electromagnetic rotation of the liquid metal at the interior of the mould. The mould forms a hollow profile at the exterior and is adapted to the profile of casting at the interior. The mould wall is segmented, the segmentation being great axially or azimuthally and provided with one only or at the most a few apertures located above the poles. The inductor operates at a low frequency below 50 Hz. Power absorption by the mould walls is reduced to a min. together with the size of the power unit. The segmentation of the mould reduces to a min. the creation of induced currents within the mould.
