Abstract

The temperature monitoring apparatus continuously detects the temperature of bearings, and the rate at which this temp. changes. Platinum resistance detectors are used to measure directly the temp. of the bearings - each bearing having its own detector so that any overheating may be located. A galvanometer is provided having graduations from 0 deg. - 150 deg.C and from -1 to +3 deg.C per secon dfor the rate of temperature change. If this rises too high, audible and visual alarms are triggered and the driving motor may be automatically stopped, to avoid damage to bearings arising from overheating due to binding.
