Abstract

The cable spooling mechanism is of the type with screwed rod and nut. It has a single guide bar (4) for the cable guide truck, and the screwed rod (2), apart from exerting the driving force on the guide mechanism, also acts as a support, preventing rotation round the guide bar. The screwed rod can be partly countersunk in the guide bar. The design appreciably reduces both cost and dimensions as compared with designs currently in use. The screwed rod (2) has reduced end sections where it is retained in the bearings. The cable guide flange (6) includes a bush (5), the axis of which intersects those of the guide bar and screwed rod.
