Abstract

Process for coating sunlight-absorbing and heat-storing solar panels comprises (a) forming a black-pigmented lacquer by grinding a mixt. of 3-10 (prf. 5) pts. wt. carbon black (HCC II or HCC II (o) grade) and 100 pts. wt. binder in a solvent, in a ball mill for 72-96 hr, until a grindometer value of 4-8 um is obtained, and (b) coating the panel with the lacquer and drying the coating to form a film with a thickness of 5-30 um. The coating increases the rate and degree of heat absorption of the panels. Pref. process comprises (a) grinding a mixt. of 60 parts heat-curable acrylate resin(50%) 19.5 parts ethyl glycol acetate, 19.0 parts xylene and 1.5. parts HCC (II) o carbon black (FW 200 loads) for 72 hr. to give a grindometer value of 5 um, and (b) coating and drying to a thickness of 15-20 um.
