Abstract

The control unit for a dental instrument has a pneumatic supply for each of two instruments used alternately, each controlled by a main valve. A control actuates the two valves and a detector connects one or the other to the pneumatic supply. The detector has a part which can be shut by the finger of the operator, changing over the supply between the valve each time the air flow through the port is stopped. Air flow from the detector can be used to actuate visual indicators showing which instrument is being supplied.
