Abstract

L'invention concerne les moyens de représentation d'informations visuelles. Le dispositif faisant l'objet de l'invention est du type comprenant une couche 1 de cristaux liquides nématiques disposée entre deux structures << sandwich >> ou multicouches transparentes, dont chacune comprend notamment une couche 2 de substance assurant l'orientation des molécules de cristaux liquides nématiques de manière que les grands axes des molécules adjacentes à l'une desdites structures soient parallèles à celle-ci et entre eux et forment un angle de 90 degrés avec les grands axes des molécules adjacentes à l'autre structure, et est caractérisé en ce que la couche 2 de substance assurant ladite orientation des molécules des cristaux nématiques est en oxyde de germanium. L'invention permet notamment d'obtenir un dispositif d'affichage dont la tension d'excitation est inférieure à 1,8 V.
