Abstract

The H.F. converter is of the type having a continuous current input to which is connected a time base circuit such as a transformer oscillator and a switch. The converter uses a power transformer (10) which receives the continuous current input in a controlled manner from the time base circuit and feeds H.F. current to the gas discharge lamp (13). The current input terminals are in series with the power transformer (10), time base circuit transformer (20) and a transistor (23) circuit. The converter supplies H.F. current which is independent of supply voltage, which ensures that the lamp arc voltage is also independent of the supply voltage.
