Abstract

A low temp. thermal storage system for use with solar heating of houses makes use of the fact that sodium sulphate releases heat when charging from the anhydrous phase to the hydrated phase. In order to ensure continuous reversibility of this process the sodium sulphate is mixed with sodium borate and placed in glass tubes. These tubes are mounted between circular flanges which rotate once in three quarters of an hour. The rotating assembly is partly immersed in a liq. which either supplies or removes heat. The device thus functions as a heat exchanger and heat accumulator.
