Abstract
Impure cadmium is refined by distillation of the molten metal in a vacuum. The impure metal is continually evaporated and the high boiling purities condensed with a part of the evaporated cadmium. The condensate is lead in counter-current to the evaporated gases. The main part of the evaporated gases is led off and condensed. Thallium, zinc, lead and copper are removed from cadmium.
